I turn into a zombie every Friday. I muster up energy on Mondays because I have to go to work, and pull myself together on Saturdays because I have to film, so Friday is like a fleeting moment of rest that a working mom can enjoy. (I realized that when you have kids, the weekend isn't really mine anymore 🥹) Work loosens up ahead of the weekend, there are hardly any meetings, and since I can stay up later than usual without feeling pressured, I feel at ease. On Friday evenings, I eat whatever I want to my heart's content, unbox the piled-up packages, catch up on videos I've missed, and relax before cleaning up the kids' messes and going to sleep. What does Friday evening mean to me? It is a time to enjoy the small pleasures I've been putting off.
