In keeping with this week's mini-housewarming theme, I’d like to introduce my bedroom, the most private hideaway in my home. I’ve found that in older apartments, furniture arrangement and lighting alone determine the overall atmosphere. I’m sharing the key features of my bedroom, which erases the structural flaws typical of older buildings and captures a hotel-like coziness. ˗ˏˋ ♡ ˎˊ˗ 1. Furniture Lines for Visual Stability I arranged the furniture vertically and horizontally, aligning the lines from the walnut-colored wall shelves to the bed and nightstands. Organizing the lines like this allows the eye to flow naturally, creating the effect of making the space look much deeper. 2. The Temperature of Lighting for Deep Sleep Lighting is, of course, the flower of bedroom interior design. Instead of a cold main light, I use warm wood lighting as an accent. The comfort felt when the soft light flows along the grain of the walnut furniture is the ultimate cheat code for a deep sleep every night. 3. Fail-proof Tone-on-Tone Color Matching The secret to making the potentially heavy walnut color look sophisticated is color contrast. We established a sense of weight with heavy, dark walnut furniture, and matched the curtains and bedding in bright tones for a tone-on-tone look. It is the easiest way to create a familiar yet luxurious atmosphere. 4. Solving Storage Concerns with a Unified Drawer Set We solved the lack of storage in an older apartment without built-in wardrobes by using a spacious chest of drawers. I found that nothing beats a chest of drawers for neatly hiding clutter. By unifying the bedroom furniture around drawers, we gained not only storage capacity but also the added bonus of an interior design effect. Bonus: True Interior Design is Easy to Maintain A space that is merely pretty is bound to become tiresome quickly. To support daily life with a pet dog, we didn't overlook the details of cleanliness. From the bed frame to the chest of drawers, we chose types with legs for everything. Thanks to this, the robot vacuum can move into every nook and cranny, allowing me to maintain a dust-free and pleasant bedroom every day. Even older apartments can become cozy and special.
