I like my old corridor-style apartment because the kitchen window is large. It lets in plenty of sunlight and is well-ventilated. I enjoy cooking, so I often stand in the kitchen; whenever I do, I see an elderly gentleman passing by my apartment and heading to the end of the hallway to smoke. Surprisingly, the cigarette smoke never reaches my apartment. I wish he would quit, for the sake of his health and good manners. Although he doesn't seem to have any interest in me, I decided to buy summer blinds to block out distracting thoughts and focus on my own work.
