Instead of a major renovation to tear everything down, I proceeded with a partial remodel. 🤍🩷 First, let me tell you the story of the 'Kitchen,' which had a very dark, gritty appearance! 🫣 🏠 Before the remodeling, our kitchen was disappointing because it only had the refrigerator cabinet and the glossy, dark-colored doors that had a strong presence. However, even though it was an older building, I really loved the 'face-to-face sink' layout that overlooked the living room. 🥹 I will share, one by one, the clever tips for overcoming the downsides and how we managed to erase the traces of time while preserving this attractive layout! ✔️ Overcoming the Clogging 'Darkness' Downside While having a new refrigerator cabinet custom-built, I also ensured the upper cabinets matched perfectly to the set. We didn't forget to install recessed T5 indirect lighting under the upper cabinets. ✨️ We kept the frame and countertop of the lower cabinets, which were still in good condition, but applied 'Younglim Fog Gray' film to match the overall tone. Thanks to this, the kitchen looks twice as bright and spacious. 🤍🫧 ✔️ The Transformation of an Ambiguous and Dead 'Alpha Space' A standard built-in marble desk and pantry were stuck in the alpha space next to the kitchen. We removed everything without hesitation. ⚒️ In that spot, we built a new pantry to seamlessly connect with the upper cabinets and refrigerator cabinet, and completed the minimalist dining room and small home bar that we had always dreamed of. ☕️🤍 I think this might be the best decision I made during this remodeling.❤️ ​✔️ Erasing traces of the past with subtle details ▫️ The kitchen wall lines became much cleaner after removing the gas range and gas valve and installing an induction cooktop. ▫️ The combination of a square sink bowl and matte nickel faucet, replacing the standard rounded sink, created an atmosphere like a brand-new apartment 🩶 ▫️ Boldly removed the cramped storage compartments under the island and installed soft T5 indirect lighting 💡 ​✔️ Thanks to grateful communication that eased the budget burden Honestly, I seriously considered not touching the kitchen due to budget issues. However, thanks to meeting a wonderful turnkey contractor and communicating actively, we were able to coordinate some processes as free services.🥰 From wall tile installation to base cabinet film work and island indirect lighting installation, I received everything as a gift. 🎁❤️ (So moved…😳) You don't have to spend a fortune tearing everything down; as long as you clearly distinguish between what to save and what to fix, even an older building can be transformed into a kitchen worthy of a brand-new home.
