I attended a cooking class led by Instructor Moon Sung-hee in Bukchon as part of the Today's House Special Creator Class. The theme of this class was “A Table of Peace: You Are What You Eat.” It was not just a time to learn how to cook, but a meaningful time that prompted us to reflect on the impact food has on our bodies and minds. For the vegetable sushi we made ourselves, we focused on bringing out the natural flavors and colors of the ingredients rather than using fancy materials or complex techniques. The process of carefully handling and plating each ingredient was impressive, and I was able to learn about the proper attitude toward food. With the instructor’s calm explanations and warm philosophy, I felt at ease throughout the cooking process, and it changed my perspective on the dining table.
