I'm not sure if this counts as interior design know-how, but... If you match the tones of the furniture in your home, there is a magic that makes the house always look tidy, even if it is a bit messy... or so they say. The sofa, the shelf on the right, and even the lighting. I think the wooden hook at the top of that light fixture matches the house even better!
