Considerations for the Expansion 🔍 Since this renovation involved completely removing the original veranda door and wall to expand the living room, my top priorities were 'insulation' and 'sense of openness'! I focused on meticulous boiler pipe extensions and selecting double-pane windows to make the living room—which previously looked cramped due to the veranda—feel wide open while ensuring it remains warm in the winter. 2. Living Room Expansion Construction Tips 🔍 When removing all veranda doors, prioritize checking floor heating connections, plastering, and thorough insulation work (such as Iso-pink or polyurethane foam)! Also, you must install Grade 1 insulated double-pane windows to ensure the living room remains cozy and spacious throughout all four seasons, even without the veranda. Since double-pane windows alone can be cold in winter, hanging thick thermal curtains is a great tip :) All the guests who came for our housewarming party saw our living room first and commented that the house looked spacious! ✨✨ It is actually a 24-pyeong unit, but the space with the veranda in the same house definitely felt narrow and cramped. I think it is more important to consider whether the construction is suitable for me to live in, rather than focusing on what is better. Instead of having a veranda, we maintain our space by prohibiting storing, hiding, or piling up items and miscellaneous belongings that would otherwise be placed in that area!
