Hostas, which make the summer garden even more lush with their voluminous leaves growing low in the garden. I learned for the first time this time that there are many varieties of Hostas, and upon closer inspection, the leaf colors are dynamic and attractive. I chose two varieties: Fire & Ice, which has a creamy hue, and Great Expectations, which has a fluorescent green hue. I think their cool and refreshing colors alone will make the hot summer garden feel cool. They are known as the "Queen of Shade" because they are highly cold-hardy and thrive in partial shade or full shade. 😆 I trust they will grow well even in my balcony garden where sunlight is scarce...
