Since our home is an older apartment building, the living room balcony was quite spacious. I decided to expand the living room, believing that doing so would allow us to use the space more broadly and efficiently. 🏷 Considerations for Living Room Expansion ✔️ How to utilize the wing walls that could not be removed ✔️ How to secure additional storage space ✔️ What purpose would the expanded space serve ✔️ Whether the flow of movement connects naturally with the existing living room The biggest concern during the expansion work was the wing walls that could not be removed. It could have easily resulted in an awkward space, but after much deliberation, we created custom storage cabinets on both sides of the wing walls to maximize the use of the space! Older apartments often lack separate pantries, so storage space has always been a concern; however, we were able to resolve this storage issue to some extent. We also placed a dining table in the expanded space. Now, it has become the spot where our family gathers the most. My child does homework here, and we naturally spend time together as a family by reading books or playing crafts :) It feels like not only has the living room gotten bigger, but the space where the family spends time together has also expanded.
