I’d like to introduce two installations that are worth the money, both during the interior renovation and while you’re living in them. 1. Google Nest When used with devices that support Matter, the Google Nest 4th generation allows you to control Matter devices via the Google Home app through the Matter Hub. We installed the 4th generation in the living room and the 3rd generation in each of the other rooms. Since the 3rd generation operates independently—unlike other domestic thermostats—it is recommended to prepare 1:1 wiring tailored to each room. We completely redid the electrical wiring during the interior renovation. I believe it is important to entrust the work to professionals to ensure safe installation. By installing the actuator valve on the return pipe side of the distribution manifold and communicating in advance regarding wiring and wall finishes before on-site work, it helps ensure a smooth installation. The interior design company and the IoT company proceeded with the work through prior communication, including meetings and sharing of electrical wiring diagrams. We also replaced the actuators with products that are IoT-compatible. After installation, it not only looks pretty, but it has also become a smart home because I can control the temperature in each room via Google Home and the Aqara app. 2. Aqara Electric Curtains This is one of the installations I am most satisfied with, as I can open and close the curtains using voice commands or the app. After attaching the motor to the rail and connecting the power, you add the device in the Aqara Home app (or connected SmartThings/HomeKit/Google Home) to set up control and automation. If there is no power outlet inside the curtain box, wiring work such as branching the constant power line may be required. If you are concerned about electrical work, it is recommended to consider professional installation. We had to redo the electrical wiring work, so we planned our interior design with this in mind. We use it in a way that the curtains close automatically when it is time for the children to go to bed and open automatically in the morning.
