The Story of Our House Embracing the Mountain Instead of the Road Ep. 6 🏡 From the outside, our house looks incredibly tall! In fact, the ceiling height ranges from 2,800mm at the lowest point to nearly 4 meters at the highest. This is actually because we raised the foundation by a full meter when we built the house! To be honest, the house we originally wanted was one with minimal elevation changes, where we could walk directly from the living room to the yard. However, when we decided to build the house, there was strong pressure (?) from both sets of fathers saying, "Raise it by 1 meter no matter what!" In reality, both families built their houses by 1 meter! These days, building materials and waterproofing techniques have improved, so there is no need to build high just because of moisture like in the past. Technically, there are no issues with building low or raising it by 1 meter, so the height of the house is actually a matter of choice, not a right answer. But the fathers emphasized it so much that I felt like I would be scolded for a long time if I didn't listen. So, we built it by raising it by 1 meter. After building the house, When viewed from the street, the house is tall, so we gained privacy as outside views are automatically blocked. Inside, we gained an unobstructed view as a bonus. And on days when it pours, it definitely gives us a sense of peace of mind. It has been almost a year since we built the house, but people still consistently and occasionally say, "You raised it by another meter, right?" If we hadn't listened, we would have been in big trouble, wouldn't we??
