The piece of furniture I cherish most in my home is the dining table. It is a Zanotta Reale CM with a glass top. While I love the clear and light feel characteristic of glass, the wooden frame structure is what makes this piece of furniture so charming. I heard that Carlo Mollino designed this structure after observing an aircraft wing, and that angles were crucial to the design. Perhaps that is why it sometimes feels more like a sculpture than a simple table. I also like that the glass top doesn't block off the space, and the exposed form of the wooden frame creates a more natural connection between the kitchen and the living room. It is the spot where we eat, drink coffee, and welcome guests every day.
