Why does my home look so plain when I have the exact same black furniture? 🤍 Regarding newlywed home interiors, I've found that simply buying high-quality furniture doesn't guarantee a beautiful look. I'm sharing four subtle differences I learned through trial and error. 1️⃣ Use 'Tree Branches with Beautiful Lines' Instead of Flowers Fresh flowers can make a space look cramped due to their volume. Dry branches, however, have empty lines, so they prevent a stuffy feeling while drawing the eye upwards. If you choose a vase with a narrow opening and a round body, you can create volume with just one or two branches. And the maintenance cost is zero! 2️⃣ Hide Small Items in 'Wooden Boxes' Remote controls, chargers, documents... the moment these things are visible, the worn look overshadows the furniture, no matter how pretty it is. You should choose boxes in contrasting warm tones (leather or oak) rather than the same tone as the furniture (I chose black) to create a striking focal point. It's the same black furniture, but why does my home look so plain? 3️⃣ Leave Empty Space I know you have this urge to keep filling things up. However, whether it's shelves or tables, leaving more than half empty actually makes the styling look more polished. If you fill it completely, it just looks like clutter; if you leave it empty, it becomes a "styled look." Instead of filling every single compartment, try aiming to leave at least one space completely empty. 4️⃣ 'Textured Rugs' Under Black Furniture Black has a substantial weight to it, so if you place it directly on the floor without a rug, it looks like it's floating. The rug acts as an "anchoring" for the furniture within the space. Size the rug up so that one or two furniture legs rest on it.
