My best friend said this to me. "If you had given birth to a human baby, you would have turned into juice." "I admit it immediately!" You're right. I am an overly fussy dog mom. Let me tell you, regarding my 21-year-old Shih Tzu: When he was 15, I received a call telling me to prepare myself. I brought him home from the vet and cooked his meals myself, keeping him alive until he was 21. When he was eating dry kibble or prescription food, he suffered from diarrhea and vomiting every single day; there was never a moment of peace. But this little guy, who had stopped eating solid food, started eating chicken breast, and when I added rice and fed it to him like porridge, he actually ate it. So, I found a place called Ray & Yvonne that sold purees with only the essential ingredients for dogs extracted. I supplemented the missing nutrients and made porridge to feed him. That is how he lived to be 21 without any diarrhea or vomiting. His body was truly beyond use, yet he managed to survive. After that, when Park Bori came along, I became obsessed with food more than anything else. I wanted to cook and feed him, but this little guy is quite picky about his food, so I realized I really needed to do some research. Right now, I steam salmon, zucchini, and cabbage and add them as toppings to his dry food, and he eats it well every single day. I also realized that treats with additives aren't good, so I tried to buy dried ingredients made from the raw ingredients whenever possible. However, once, I bought something from Costco that looked delicious, and Park Bori got sick immediately. I tried a few times, but he got sick, so now he only eats dried chicken tenderloin and pig ears. Among the dried chicken tenderloins, Park Bori prefers ones that are a bit chewy and moist, but the places selling them are so inconsistent. So, I bought a food dehydrator. I'm so excited. Since I'm always at home, I have something else to do. My heart is pounding with anticipation at the thought of giving him moist and chewy chicken tenderloin. It smells savory and delicious just by itself. I have a wish. I wish our Park Bori wouldn't get sick until the day she goes on her picnic, and that she would quietly pass away while out for a walk and sleeping. I don't wish for her to live a long life. Watching our firstborn, Boo, who couldn't see or hear, I felt so sorry for her; she clearly gave her all because she loved being with us, but it was just too heartbreaking. She stopped eating, and around the time of her picnic, Boo left on her journey with a blueberry in her mouth. So, I'm fine, but I hope our Park Bori doesn't get sick, enjoys her life to the fullest, and departs peacefully. With this sentiment in mind, I'm happily making snacks for a fussy dog mom.
