#리모델링오답노트 I spent quite a lot of money on remodeling. For a full renovation, I installed 4 system air conditioners, marble for the entire kitchen wall, Italian tiles, molding-free walls, hidden doors, wall leveling, and so on... I spent a large sum of nearly 70 million won. If I could go back in time, I’d like to introduce three construction tasks that I would absolutely never do. (These were even expensive to install ㅠㅠ... I think I could have saved 10 million won if I hadn't done them.) 1️⃣ Molding-Free Molding-free wallpapering is exactly what it sounds like—wallpapering done without molding. It has the advantage of looking neat, but you need to find a skilled company and a skilled wallpaperer. Even though I selected a company after thoroughly reviewing their portfolio, the results were not satisfactory. There were three main reasons for the failure: 1. Lack of Wall Leveling - For molding-free wallpapering to look nice, the walls need to be flat, but in our houses, if you peel back the walls, they aren't flat. So, I had to do some carpentry work or putty application, but I didn't realize that process was necessary. As a result, there are many uneven spots, so it doesn't look very pretty. 2. Wallpaper that wasn't thick enough (thin wallpaper) Most people use Diamant for frameless wallpaper. However, since the budget had gone up significantly, I used a different wallpaper. They had told me it would be okay. But... in the end, it wasn't. To cover a wall that wasn't even leveled, you need thick wallpaper, but since the wallpaper was thin, all the unevenness showed through... It looked so awful. 3. The wallpaper installer… Even if the contractor does a good job, the actual installation is ultimately the responsibility of the professional engineers... They did such a terrible job ㅠㅠ Everything was torn, cracked, and wavy—it was a total mess... As I tried to fill it in with silicone, it didn't feel like I had spent a lot of money on it... Actually, issues 1 and 2 can be resolved to some extent if a skilled wallpaperer comes, but ultimately, it's a matter of human error 😋✨ (This is the part that makes me most angry) 2️⃣ Hidden Door - I think satisfaction with a hidden door might or might not depend on the installation location. In my house, the hidden door is right next to the window frame, so as a result, it was inconvenient, and I decided I would never do it again. I chose this. 1. Installed a hidden door after leveling the floor with carpentry to match the load-bearing wall. = Cost a lot of money. 2. It's right next to the window frame, so it's a huge hassle to open the door. It's even more of a hassle with the curtains drawn. 3. Since it's right next to the window frame, it gets cold and hot... and the door warps due to the changing seasons. It already warped once in the winter, so I had to replace it... If it warps again this time, I'm going to take it off. 3️⃣ Recessed Line Lighting - I wanted to do this because it looked so pretty and neat. The ceiling height was also low since there was no coffered ceiling. This also cost quite a bit of money since it was installed after the carpentry work to build the frame, but if I could go back, I wouldn't do it. 1. When replacing the lights, you have to remove all the silicone and take out the light fixtures. I knew that, but it was a hassle. So I debated whether to do it or not, but I thought, "It's LED, so it should last a long time!" and went ahead with the installation. However, one of the lights went out after only 6 months... So I requested a replacement... But since I only replaced one side, the fit didn't align properly, so it wouldn't slide in perfectly. Ugh... Ugh... That's how I'm living... 2. If the wallpaper isn't neat, it's an even bigger disaster. It looks somewhat better when the lights are on, but when they're off, you can see the messy silicone sealant, the uncomfortable gaps where the linear lighting doesn't align, and the wallpaper that's all wrinkled and in terrible condition... It's all so obvious. ㅠㅠ All three of these services are more expensive than the standard installation, but it breaks my heart that the results seem worse than the standard one. ㅜㅜ I have a feeling I would have saved 10 million won if I hadn't done just these three things... I hope this helps at least a little bit to anyone who might be struggling with these three things 🥲🤣 #MoneyWastedInterior #푸하항 #FailedInterior #인테리어절망편 #콘수프기록집 #인테리어노하우 #현명한소비 #인테리어 #리모델링후기 #리모델링 #리모델링꿀팁 #오늘의집 #오늘의우리집 #콘수프기록집 #집꾸미기
