My husband and I preferred the top floor because we hate noise between floors the most :) However, the location of being on the top floor of an apartment has its pros and cons! The downside is worrying about heating, but since insulation materials are so good these days, I don't think that's a concern anymore. There are far more advantages. First off, there is absolutely no worry about noise coming from the floors above, and it is also great for creating a duplex structure by utilizing the high ceilings of the top floor.
