A Corner of the Living Room, the First Desk Preparing for Elementary School I started preparing a desk for my eldest child, who will be starting elementary school next year. Initially, I planned to put it in the child's room, but my eldest always brings their Kumon work and books to the dining table and prefers doing them right next to me. Since it seems like this is a time when they need time with family more than a space to themselves, I decided to place the desk in a corner of the living room for the time being. Because it is next to the window where sunlight streams in, it is great for reading or drawing, and it gives me peace of mind as I can naturally keep an eye on my child while doing housework.
