When I used to run a daycare center, the flooring was laminate, and whenever the children dropped toys, it would immediately get dented and gouged. The area where the safety gates in the classrooms were pushed open and closed also got gouged. Based on that experience, I decided I absolutely had to avoid laminate flooring. Even if you drop heavy, sharp kitchen shears on engineered wood, it doesn't budge. It is also resistant to water. However, to protect Gureumi's kneecaps, we live with a special dog mat laid down. The color of our engineered wood flooring is a shade between light and dark, blending well with most solid wood furniture.
