Our kitchen has a layout with a side kitchen area, so it feels a bit cramped when I'm actually cooking. That's why I keep a stainless steel cutting board on the countertop and use it to get plenty of space when preparing ingredients. (Just rest it on the countertop and you're done! It doesn't slide.)
