30 Million Won Interior: I'm So Glad I Installed Engineered Wood Flooring in All 4 Rooms During my 20 years of military service, I moved 15 times, living back and forth between military quarters and apartments. For this 33-pyeong (approx. 109 sq m) home, which I purchased for the first time, I proceeded with the interior renovation with a budget of 30 million won. Due to the budget, I kept the common areas' flooring intact and installed engineered wood flooring only in the four rooms. I chose rectangular T-shaped engineered wood flooring, the product was the Dongwha Natural Flooring Jin Grande series, and it cost 2.16 million won to install it in all four rooms. ☆ Why I Installed It Initially, I didn't intend to install flooring in the rooms due to the budget. When I went to view the house, the floor condition looked good at first glance. However, when I actually went to the house on the first day of the renovation and saw the condition, it was unusual. The rooms had vinyl flooring, while the common areas had plywood flooring, and a material separator was installed in the door between them. However, the separator was broken, so the door wouldn't close, and there were many dents on the room floors. It also didn't match the White & Wood concept. Since replacing the entire flooring would significantly increase the budget, we decided to start by renovating only the living spaces, specifically the rooms. Although it looks like a simple gray floor in the photos, it actually features a subtle stone pattern that gives it a luxurious feel. In particular, when combined with white wallpaper, the space looked much brighter and more spacious. ☆ 3 Things I Liked 1. Less Dust Visible Hair and dust are often visible in children's rooms and dressing rooms, but because this is a light gray tone, everyday dust is relatively less visible. 2. Easy Furniture Matching White furniture, wood furniture, black furniture—any color blended well with it. 3. Photogenic When taking photos to post on Today's House or Instagram, the floor acts as a background, making the space look much more organized. Additionally, because it is a tile type, it doesn't get photographed easily, and cleaning is easy even if it gets dirty. Also, it retains coolness in the summer and warmth in the winter for a long time. ☆ Things I Was Disappointed About The biggest regret is that we couldn't renovate the common areas as well. If I were to do it again now, I think I would install it in the living room and hallway as well, even if it meant spending a little more on the budget. Another downside is that since it is a tile-type flooring, there is a risk of damage if objects are dropped, and because it is very hard, there is a risk of serious injury if you fall over it.
