Actually, regarding the name ‘Heydoo’…! I’ve had a dream of Scandinavian design ever since I was a university student. With that single desire, I went to Sweden as an exchange student, and diligently traveled back and forth to nearby Copenhagen to see design exhibitions and go on trips. To think that was already 17 years ago… !!!!!!!! 🤣 Watching designs up close that are minimal yet practical, and naturally blend into people’s daily lives, I nurtured a dream of creating such designs myself. I also had a dream that someday, when I would have my own space, I wanted to fill it, one by one, with furniture and accessories imbued with the sensibility of Danish design. ❣️ In fact, the name ‘Heydoo’ also holds the sentiment of those days. HEJ means ‘hello’ in Swedish, and DOO came from my child’s nickname, ‘Dudu.’ Looking back, I think what I longed for wasn’t simply beautiful design, but a minimal and practical way of life—keeping only what is absolutely necessary and using it for a long time. My yearning for that Scandinavian lifestyle and the family story of "Hello, Siyeol" are naturally intertwined within the name "Heydoo." :) One of the benefits I looked forward to most while working as a Special Creator for Today's House was receiving premium furniture sponsorship. 🥹 Even among the lineup filled with brands I've always loved, I was gifted the Fritz Hansen Seven Chair, which was my number one choice in my heart. It is fascinating how a chair born in 1955 fits so naturally into our current space. It has a distinct presence but does not overwhelm the space, and the clean wood grain of the clear lacquer oak blends in comfortably, as if it had been in our home for a long time. 🪑❣️ However, I quietly let go of one chair that was beyond repair because the traces of my time with my child remained so deep. 😇 You've worked hard all this time... You really held on... 😂 Placing the Seven Chair in that spot, it feels like the space has become much more organized just by changing one chair, and it makes me feel at ease too. As I documented various experiences through this activity, I found myself bringing out, one by one, the tastes and dreams from long ago that I had forgotten for a while. I think that is the biggest charm of the Special Creator activity for me. 🩵 If the me from my college days, who traveled back and forth between Sweden and Copenhagen, and gazed at the designs I loved to my heart's content, were to see this space now, I think I would have liked it quite a bit. It seems that feelings of affection don't disappear, but are simply forgotten for a while.
