This is a review based on my personal experience using and styling the product, which was provided through the #오감리뷰 program. I am the very person who used to buy coffee outside every day, even though we had a coffee machine in the office. Haha. Originally, I used a capsule coffee machine for convenience. However, since I was drinking one or two cups a day, the cost of the capsules was higher than I expected, and the taste was always a bit lacking. In the end, the machine was there, but there were many days when I ended up buying coffee outside anyway. Hahaha. Then, we brought the Philips Baristina Plus Metal Espresso Machine into the office. The biggest change wasn't the frequency of using the coffee machine, but rather the frequency of me buying coffee outside. 😂 These days, when I arrive at work, I naturally check the beans and water first, and even when I go out, I brew a cup at the office and fill it into a tumbler before leaving. When it was first installed, the design caught my eye right away. With its full metal body featuring a subtle brushed metal texture, it looked more like a well-crafted metal object than a coffee machine. Since the portafilter faces forward, I also felt the classic vibe characteristic of semi-automatic machines. Its slim design meant it wasn't too wide, so I could place it on one side of an existing shelf without taking up much space. It is also incredibly easy to use. Just fill it with beans and water, press the desired menu button, and lightly swipe the portafilter to the right—that's it. The machine handles everything automatically, from grinding the beans to tamping and extraction, so I found myself brewing coffee without hesitation, even on busy mornings or in the middle of work. ❤️☕️ Since I ground my favorite beans fresh and brewed them, the aroma felt much more distinct than when drinking capsule coffee. The espresso was rich yet smooth, and brewing it as a lungo was perfect for sipping slowly while working. Since I could choose beans that suited my taste, I didn't miss cafe-quality coffee much even when brewing it at the office. I also liked the upgrades from the previous Baristina model. The body and drip tray have been changed to full metal, making the overall look much more luxurious, and thanks to the metal housing, the operating noise is said to be reduced compared to before. When I actually used it, the sound of grinding the beans was shorter than expected, so it was less of a burden to use it in the middle of work. As someone who loves iced coffee, the feature I was most happy to see was the newly added iced coffee mode. You place a glass filled with ice, press the iced coffee button, and swipe, and an iced Americano is ready instantly. Perhaps because it extracts the coffee while preserving the aroma and flavor of the beans to suit the iced coffee, the taste didn't feel watery as quickly, and it is the feature I use most often these days. 👏🏻 Using the strength button together with the machine brings out the coffee flavor well even when milk is added, making it great for making iced lattes. I often make oat lattes by adding oats instead of regular lattes, and the taste rivals that of a professional coffee shop. Haha. Pouring a strong espresso over vanilla ice cream makes for a quick affogato as well.❣️ I liked that the menu isn't complicated, yet I can make a variety of drinks depending on my mood that day. Maintenance was also simpler than I expected. After extraction is finished, pressing the release button on the portafilter removes the coffee puck, and you just need to lightly rinse the portafilter under running water. The drip tray can also be detached for cleaning, so cleaning up wasn't a big burden even with daily use. For someone like me, who used to end up buying coffee outside because the capsules were expensive and the taste was disappointing, the most definite advantage is how my daily life has changed since getting this machine.
