In the military quarters, because I considered it a temporary home, the veranda was always a space for hanging laundry or piling up stuff. In the first home I acquired after my discharge, I really wanted to make the veranda a space for 'rest'. At first, it was just an ordinary veranda with nothing in it. The floor was cold, and with the outdoor unit and drying rack visible, it was far from feeling pretty. So, the first thing I did was lay deck tiles. Even though only the flooring changed, it felt like the space naturally connected to the interior, and it became much more comfortable to go out barefoot. Next, I installed a screen. By covering the space where everyday life was clearly visible, the view became much cleaner, and the background looked beautiful when I took photos. Then, I brought in my favorite plants one by one. Areca palm, Monstera, rubber tree... As the green plants increased one by one, the ordinary veranda began to transform into a small plant-filled space. The last thing I placed was a moon jar wind chime. When I open the window and listen to the gentle sound of the wind chime carried by the breeze, I feel my cluttered mind gradually becoming more at ease after work. Now, the first thing I see as soon as I open the curtains is this veranda. The time I spend sitting here with a cup of coffee or watering the plants to wrap up the day has become the greatest source of healing for me. What I realized while decorating was that creating a space where I want to linger is more important than expensive furniture. ✔️ What I am most satisfied with 🌿 Just one deck tile transformed the cold floor into a warm atmosphere. 🌿 Thanks to the screens, the sense of daily life has diminished, making the space much cleaner. 🌿 As the number of plants increases, the air and atmosphere inside the house have become much more comfortable. 🌿 Every time I hear the sound of the moon jar wind chimes, the fatigue of the day melts away little by little. The first place I go after work. In my home, it is this small veranda, not the living room. Here, I feel every day that what matters more than the size of a home is how much you have created a space that truly reflects who you are. 🌿
