#리모델링하다생긴일 Sharing Interior Regrets and Shoddy Workmanship (Island, Outlets, Flooring, Adhesive Film) I would like to share the interior defects and regrets in my home that bother me every day due to the contractor's lack of finishing detail, or because I ended up getting more stressed trying to save money. 1. 'Island Hood Lifting' Phenomenon Caused by Failed Ceiling Molding Calculation: The island hood, a key component of a face-to-face kitchen, is not flush against the wall and is floating. Cause: The hood was installed without considering the thickness or finish of the ceiling molding at all, causing it to catch on the molding and resulting in the lifting phenomenon. This is a typical example of a lack of detail, where interference with the ceiling molding was not calculated in advance during kitchen construction. 2. 'Pantry Outlet Disaster' Phenomenon Caused by Clumsy Drilling: We added outlets inside the pantry for things like charging the vacuum cleaner, but the drilling locations were done in a very haphazard manner. It causes constant annoyance as the outlet and cord keep getting in the way whenever I take the vacuum out or put it back in. 3. The 'Shoddy Floor Reinforcement Under the Sink' Phenomenon Faced While Trying to Save Budget: To cut costs, we excluded full floor construction, resulting in improper reinforcement of the floor in the sink installation area. Solution(?): Instead of using proper reinforcement materials, the contractor finished the job by roughly patching up the floor with leftover scraps of construction material from the site. Even if floor construction isn't done, reinforcing the underside of the sink is a basic requirement; this was a shoddy job done to cover up the flaws using leftover junk materials. 4. The 'Useless Outlet Installation Under the Sink Cabinet' Phenomenon: I requested additional outlets in the under-sink cabinet to use kitchen appliances, but they drilled holes in awkward, unusable locations. The placement is so poor that since the renovation, I have never once placed items there or properly utilized the outlets. 5. To save costs, we covered the front door with adhesive film. However, the stepping stones, which were impossible to install, were left neglected. The colors of the filmed area and the original stepping stones clash completely (tone mismatch), causing visual stress every time I enter the front door. It is a painful lesson that I should have considered the overall color harmony and the feasible scope of the work first, rather than trying to save money at all costs. If you are preparing for an interior renovation, I hope you check your home more thoroughly rather than just trusting the contractor. I also trusted the contractor using busyness as an excuse, and thanks to this disaster(?), I am constantly bothered by it even now that I am living here.
