I’ve captured the story behind the exhibition of the Y-Cup, which embodies Milky Home’s tastes and narratives. I started with the theme, “Unfamiliar Tastes Revealed for the First Time,” but the word “unfamiliar” felt more difficult than I had anticipated. Since I had never learned to draw, I spent some time feeling lost. Eventually, I picked up a black colored pencil and began sketching the things of my taste that are always with me in my space, one by one. It was a time to step away from my daily life, which I had previously recorded with organized spaces and vivid images, and instead observe things slowly with my fingertips. These drawings capture the sentiment that small, seemingly ordinary things from everyday life can come together to form my own unique taste and become a story of my space. Although I received the finished cup in advance, seeing it displayed alongside the 93 Y-Cup exhibited at Today’s House in Bukchon was both fascinating and made me feel a bit proud.
