Turning the laundry room I used to dread into the space I want to spend the most 🤍 This is the house we moved into after I got pregnant. Due to severe morning sickness, I lived with the unorganized stuff piled up in the laundry room. After Yuoni was born, parenting began, leaving me with barely enough time to sleep, so organizing the laundry room kept getting pushed to the back burner 🥲. I felt stressed every time I went in, and eventually, I even hated going in just to use the washing machine. Although Yuoni doesn't spend much time at daycare yet, I finally gathered up a little bit of spare time after work, on weekends, and whenever I could to organize it. But now that I've organized it, it really feels like the air has changed. Our laundry room faces southwest, so the afternoon sunlight streams in deeply. I only just realized that this was such a beautiful space with sunlight. ☀️ These days, I enjoy doing laundry, and Yuoni, who always wanted to come in, seems to like the feeling of stepping on the deck tiles; she even comes in to play by stepping on them with her feet. The furniture I came to cherish the most and the top 3 items I was most satisfied with while organizing my small laundry room ✔️ Vertical storage instead of flooring: A 3-tier laundry basket Originally, I used two laundry baskets placed on the floor, but they took up surprisingly a lot of space in my small laundry room. So, I switched to a 3-tier basket that allows for vertical storage. I use the first tier for Yuoni's laundry, the second for light-colored clothes, and the third for dark-colored clothes. It has become much more convenient because I can sort the laundry from the start and free up floor space. It is my favorite piece of laundry room furniture these days, as it has helped me make the most efficient use of my small space. ✔️ Turning wasted gaps into storage space I installed a sliding gap storage unit in the awkward gap next to the refrigerator. From snacks to detergent and small daily necessities, surprisingly much fits in this narrow space. With all the items that used to be out in the open now neatly tucked away, the laundry room looks much cleaner and more organized. ✔️ I turn on the mood light before entering at night Since the laundry room is dark at night, I turn on the mood light with the remote before going in.
