So, to cut down on the budget, we compromised and went with vinyl flooring. So, I trusted them and had it installed. However, after we moved all our belongings in, the floor started to warp little by little… At some point, the whole house started swaying. Wobbling here, wobbling there. “Do I just have to live with this?” Our budget is already tight, so should we do the renovation again… That was when I started getting really stressed. Eventually, the contractor admitted to the defect, we moved all the belongings out again, and had the flooring re-installed. As a result, instead of vinyl, we ended up laying engineered wood flooring. Moving things out, finding the cause, redoing the construction... It really took a lot of time and energy. I can laugh about it now, but back then, I felt so depressed every time I looked at the house, wondering if I really had to live like this. When it comes to remodeling, saving money is important, but I think deciding exactly where to save is even more crucial.
