#리모델링하다생긴일 📌 DIY Remodeling Disaster: Bathroom Edition 😱 Since it was a DIY interior project, on the day we were working on the bathroom, I went to the site with my dad at 8 AM with some warm coffee and snacks. After greeting the new tiler who was only working on the bathroom and offering him a cup of coffee, I noticed that the groundwork had already been done with rough tiles in the bathtub area, intending to install them there. It turned out he didn't know a bathtub was going to be installed, so he had come yesterday and finished all the groundwork intending to tile the entire space. It seems the tile shop owner forgot to mention whether a bathtub was going to be installed ㅠㅠ This was my first setback... My second setback was that I had specifically told him I wanted the vanity counter to be made of jolly-cut tiles instead of marble, but the tiler didn't know that either ㅠㅠㅠㅠ Because there was a lack of communication between the homeowner, the tile shop, and the tiler, so many things got messed up on site. After communicating properly again, I apologized to the tiler and hurriedly left the site, trying to gauge the situation. However, when I looked at the single photo I had managed to take at home, I discovered that the spot for the wall light was blocked off with tiles!!!! Since wall lighting was my absolute dream, this was a major disaster!!!! I called him urgently, and he said, "Who uses wall lights these days? Everyone uses downlights, so I blocked it off." *Sob*... He was furious over the phone, so I was heartbroken and lay at home like a corpse. Then my dad called to say he went to the site, treated me to a meal, and they had a good conversation about redoing the lighting wires. I barely managed to be revived from the afterlife... The turnkey contractor also went silent, lol. The bathroom renovation was truly not an easy job either!! Looking back, there were many things I failed to communicate properly. If I ever do a bathroom renovation again, I think I will check the points below. ‼️ Precautions for DIY Bathroom Renovation ✔️ Clearly communicate to the tiler in advance whether or not you have a bathtub! Even if there is an intermediary, the homeowner must communicate with the worker one more time!! It’s good for your mental health to be cautious. ✔️ Clearly communicate whether the vanity counter is marble or jolly-cut tile. For jolly-cut tiles, it is a good idea to check in advance if the installer is capable of performing the work. ✔️ If you plan to install wall lights, check in advance to ensure the wiring is preserved. These days, wall lighting is a key element of bathroom interiors, in addition to downlights. If you are planning this, you should preserve the wiring and determine the location in advance. ✔️ Verify that the faucets, sanitary ware, and bathtub have all been secured without any issues before installation. I received a call right before the installation saying they couldn't proceed because they were out of stock. T_T The tiles also went out of stock in the middle of the process. T_T That is why the patterns on the walls and floor are slightly different. Please secure them in advance!! ✔️ Determine and communicate the height of the faucet and sink based on your height. Since I am very tall, installing them in the existing sink location was too low for me. I had to go through the process of raising them a bit. I am very satisfied with them now that I am using them. ✔️ Be careful of damage to sinks and toilets during construction During the renovation, I allowed the workers to use the restroom and left the sink area open. However, after the work was finished, I found a hard dent inside the toilet bowl and the sink's pop-up drain was heavily scratched, so I had to repurchase it... Sigh... I'm sorry to say this, but next time, I think I will keep the toilet and sink covered. ㅠㅠ There are dents in two places, so it's so stressful every time I look at them... I hope this helps those of you who are about to start renovations :)
