Turning an Unusable Alpha Room into a Pantry There was one room I hadn't anticipated when I moved in. I was sure there were three rooms, but when I came for the move-in inspection, I found out there were actually four! It turned out that the space where I hadn't selected the pantry option was just a regular room. Before I could even finish worrying about how to use this room, I started piling up furniture I was too bad to throw away and items I didn't know where to put, and it gradually began to turn into a storage room. Haha. (The photo on the second page is actually a bit more organized now...) A few months ago, I realized I couldn't go on like this, so I decided to turn this room into a pantry. The most important thing is the storage shelves. I looked at various options, but I felt that Speed Rack was the best choice because it offers a wide range of size options and allows me to adjust the shelves however I want. Since I already use racks in the laundry room and my husband's room, I felt it had many advantages, so I decided to choose it. Furthermore, it has been upgraded since I purchased it, so the design is cleaner, and I liked that it lacks the clunky feel typically associated with racks! You can choose the size that fits your room, but I chose the 1200x400x1950 size and placed two side-by-side on one side and one on the opposite side. When assembling the rack, don't just start blindly; it's better to plan in advance how to arrange the storage boxes you have and configure the compartments accordingly. Additionally, because I dislike dust accumulating at the bottom, I assembled the bottom compartment with a gap so that a robot vacuum can pass through, and I am very satisfied with this aspect. To introduce the storage items I am currently using: ⏩ Modern Round Living Box My absolute favorite storage item—I think we have easily 50 of them in various sizes at home! It is opaque and has a lid, making it great for storing various items without dust accumulating. It has been over 5 years since I first bought it, and it is so durable and neat that I keep buying only this one instead of anything else. After using them, I found the XL size to be the most versatile. The regular L size doesn't fit items even if they are slightly larger, but the XL is a spacious size that can accommodate most things. So, while organizing this pantry, I purchased additional XL sizes. ⏩Touch-Open Storage Box It is a push-pull type storage box with a front door that opens all the way to the front. That is why I think it might be the most expensive among storage boxes. But it is worth it because it is convenient to use and the quality is excellent. I was using exactly two of them; I placed them in the top space of the pantry and stored items I don't use often, and it was perfect. ⏩Wizhome Half Tray This is the storage item I purchased most recently. It is great for use in the refrigerator or freezer, but it is also convenient to place it in a pantry or on a shelf like this and just pull it out to use. I created the two middle compartments, which are within easy reach, as food storage, and I organize my ingredients by storing them so they are easy to see at a glance. This is another storage item I bought more of after initially purchasing 10 and liking it! I use both the small and large sizes, but the large one is more versatile, so if you are going to stick to one size, I recommend the large one. ⏩ Aikas Folding Box This is a storage item I bought a whopping 10 years ago and am still using today, haha. I bought this in various sizes, but I am still using it well. The biggest advantage is that you can fold it flat for storage when not in use. I made the bottom compartment on the right side of the rack large enough to hold large items like suitcases, and since I don't use it often, I wanted to keep it neat, so I attached a Velcro curtain to cover it.
