Before we moved in, this place was a storage room with a door. Since there was one room left over, I thought I should turn it into a space that both the kids and I could use. As soon as I saw the storage room, I knew I had to create a secret space, a hideout, just for the kids. That is how the kids' exclusive reading zone was born. We constructed the platform so that it extended all the way to the back, and even installed the shelves higher than the kids' height at the time to prevent them from bumping their heads. It is a space created with safety in mind. Although it wasn't captured in the photos, I created a small door under the beanbag to form a secret space (a small box). I crafted even that detail meticulously, hoping the children would feel like they have their own private space. My husband and I enjoy coffee in this space, while the children read books.
