Since the island counter was quite large and provided ample storage space, I boldly decided to get rid of the upper cabinets. Thanks to that, the kitchen looks much cleaner and less cramped, so I am still satisfied with this choice.🤍 However, there was one thing I regretted while remodeling. I wanted the sink and island countertops to be stainless steel. That was exactly the look I wanted, but the contractors said it would be difficult to maintain, so I ended up going with marble instead. Feeling regretful, I ended up buying a stainless steel cutting board and am using it to at least partially capture that stainless steel vibe. Hehehe😂 Also, perhaps because the countertop is thinner than I expected, it felt like it would sink if I leaned on it or applied even a little pressure, so I was quite uneasy at first. I even wondered, ‘Is this how it’s supposed to be…? Is it too thin…?’ Since the countertop was so large, it was a shame that the joints didn't leave a pretty mark. I did get it repaired, but because the reinforcement work was done after I moved in and all the furniture was already in, there was a lot of dust flying around, which was a bit upsetting too 🥲 It seems that with remodeling, there are always some regrettable aspects that only become apparent once you actually live in the finished space. Still, since it was a process of creating the home I wanted from start to finish, even these trial-and-error moments have now become a memory. Haha.
