The Story of Transforming a 5-Pyeong Studio and an Orange Kitchen Without Demolition 🍊➡️🤍 Hello, this is Chosep, creating warm and beautiful spaces :) This time, we styled Siyeon’s first home through Today’s House Room Pairing ‘Space Prescription.’ The first space we encountered was a 5-pyeong studio apartment where the bedroom, kitchen, and storage space were all clustered together. In particular, the intense orange tiles filling the kitchen wall and the household items scattered throughout distracted the eye, making the space feel more cluttered and stifling than its actual size. We decided on the concept for this space hoping that Siyeon, who leads a busy life, could rest comfortably and recharge her energy with the things she loves whenever she returned home. ‘A cozy charging station of my own that I want to return to every night.’ We organized the overall color scheme around white and ivory, and added a natural sense of connection to the entire space by repeatedly using Siyeon’s favorite sage green on the bedding, towels, and storage baskets🌿 The first prescription was to change the atmosphere of the intense orange kitchen. Instead of removing the existing tiles, we installed thick adhesive tiles over them. They have a three-dimensional texture that looks like real tiles, and by meticulously finishing the edges with silicone, the kitchen became much calmer and cleaner. Once the tile color changed, the entire house also looked brighter and more spacious than before.🤍 The second solution was to create a new space by changing the direction of the bed. By rotating the headboard, we placed a chest of drawers and a clothes rack in the space created, and used a perforated partition and light rod curtains to softly block the view, creating a semi-dressing room. We were able to divide the space functionally with just furniture placement and a lightweight partition, without having to build a new wall. The third solution was storage to reduce small daily inconveniences. In the closet, we used compression hangers to organize more clothes within the same width, and in the bathroom, we utilized a faucet-mounted shelf that can be installed without drilling and a portion dispenser. While a visually appealing space is important, it is actually more important how comfortable it is to live in :) Lastly, we didn't leave out a small recharging space that reflects Siyeon's taste. We created a "Three-in-One Taste Zone" by gathering a coffee machine, candles, and a speaker in one spot, and completed the bedroom as a cozy home cinema by projecting a screen onto the wall using a projector. We also gently captured Siyeon's personal story by hanging small photos and paper objects on the perforated partition. From the bedroom and dining area to the dressing room and home cinema. Even within a small area of 5 pyeong, you can make the most of the space you need by carefully examining your lifestyle and preferences. An ordinary studio apartment that someone once lived in has now become Siyeon's first home in its entirety.
