DIY Demolition Part 2 | Just Tearing Down One Built-in Wardrobe... One day, looking at a built-in wardrobe that I had been using perfectly fine, I had a thought. "Couldn't I... tear this down myself?" A desk would fit perfectly in the empty space left after removing the wardrobe. I looked it up on YouTube and saw a woman doing it all by herself. So, I started confidently. "I think I can do this too?" Yes. I really did think that at the time. I grabbed a hammer and started tearing things down piece by piece, but the more I demolished, the more unexpected things kept appearing. Once I removed the wardrobe, there was no wallpaper behind it, and there was no laminate flooring on the floor. "Ah... this isn't just about demolition." But that wasn't the end of it. While hammering away, I even broke the ceiling molding, and eventually, I injured a ligament in my finger, and later... I ended up having surgery on my little finger. 🫠 I started by trying to remove just one built-in closet, but ended up spending over 1 million won on medical bills plus molding, wallpaper, and even the cost of installing engineered wood flooring... I decided that the flooring, in particular, was beyond my capabilities, so I entrusted it to a professional, and the installation cost 650,000 won. I spent money, hurt my hand, and the project grew several times larger than originally planned... But eventually, I finished everything step by step, from demolition to wall finishing. (I finished it quite neatly using sticker wallpaper!) It was only after seeing the finished space that I thought to myself: “Still... I actually pulled this off?” I definitely learned something through this experience.
