“I even moved the dining table into the living room, but why won’t my child sit there?” I received this question so many times after seeing the previous reels😅 The secret to the success of turning our living room into a library is a ‘blank space’ that can be opened at any time. If I piled up books to encourage reading, or set up this and that out of my own greed, in the child’s eyes, it became a ‘burdensome space where I absolutely have to do something,’ and they actually wouldn’t sit there. So, we changed just two things. ✔️Starting with the child’s choice On the way to daycare in the morning, “What should we play after we get home today?” I ask them and prepare just the right materials on the desk. Since it is a game they wanted to play, they run over and sit down on their own :) Once they naturally start playing, I quietly sit beside them to read a book, and I am creating a space where we can grow together by spending time together. ✔️ Just the 3 essentials on the desk A table of at least 1400mm (securing a spacious area to spread out various things and play freely) Lighting & a reading stand (creating a focused environment that naturally enhances immersion) #TurningTheLivingRoomIntoALittle
