What would be the best first bed for a baby? I really looked up a lot of different options. Since my baby is still so small, a high bed felt a bit overwhelming. But rather than buying a bed that I'd replace quickly, I looked for something that could be used for a long time and ended up picking the Balance Kids Solid Mattress + Sam Kids Low-profile Bed. I was a bit hesitant about the mattress, especially since it's a newly released product, before actually lying on it. However, once I stepped on it and pressed down, it felt firmer and better than I expected. Plus, it has a structure that firmly holds the edges, and I liked that it has foam cases to prevent the baby's feet from slipping when they step on the edges to stand up later. :) Also, the Sam Kids is low-profile but has high guards on all four sides, so even though my baby sleeps next to me right now, I thought it would be fine even when they start sleeping alone later. The guards can be detached and reattached as needed, and later on, you can connect modules to use it as a family bed, so it seemed like a good option for long-term use starting from when the baby is little. 👍 The bed still looks much bigger than the baby right now, but I plan to help them get used to it as their own bed as they grow little by little.
