That while being loved and acknowledged by others is important, it is more important not to lose myself first. Not treating myself carelessly just because I am lonely, and respecting my own heart and choices even in difficult moments. Perhaps protecting myself is sometimes harder than leaving someone, but I felt that it is ultimately the most necessary thing for living my own life. ꜝꜝ *Jane Eyre* made me think more about how I treat myself, rather than about the love story.
