For a while after moving into our new home, I think I was consumed by thoughts like, "Why does it feel so empty? Why does it feel so awkward?" Because of my personality, I don't really fit into a minimalist lifestyle. It felt like I needed a lot of things for the house, but the layout and color scheme left me feeling unsatisfied in so many ways. In the end, the approach I chose was, of course, to get rid of things and declutter, but I decided that for items to be used in that space, I should at least match the tone-on-tone as much as possible! I went with a focus on beige and white, but I guess you could say I removed cool tones from the warm-toned areas.
