To start with the conclusion, I am more satisfied now than I expected. Instead of lowering the ceiling unconditionally, we created a step difference mainly along the areas where the air conditioner pipes pass, and we kept the remaining load-bearing walls intact without demolishing them. The load-bearing walls, which I initially considered a disadvantage, actually served to divide the space like a frame. Instead of removing walls to make the space appear as spacious as possible, the load-bearing walls naturally divided the area, creating a boundary between the living room and other spaces. This allowed the wall surface to be utilized as a single surface for hanging picture frames or arranging decorative items. If you are preparing for the remodeling of an existing building: Especially with system air conditioners, the impression of the finished space can change significantly depending on how much the ceiling height changes after installation and where the piping is routed. Therefore, it was crucial for the air conditioner company and the interior design company to determine the placement together during the design phase.
