When covering a winter blanket, what if you just cover it? You can put it in without washing it, or even if you wash it, you can store it in a compression bag/airtight storage container. Winter blankets are especially thick, so they are stored compressed, tied, or folded in a state where they are not completely dry, so there is a high risk of bacterial growth and mold! It is best to wash it twice before storing/covering it!
