Yerin's Letter | April 5 A while ago, I went to a flower shop and brought home a scholar's jasmine that I had wanted to bring in once, a hurricane, a namdojari, a baby's breath flower that naturally caught my eye, and a rosemary for a gift. I searched to see what size pots I should transplant them into, ordered the necessary rocks and soil, and spent a few days researching the characteristics of each plant. Then, on the day the package arrived, I clumsily checked the order I had found several times, took the plants out of their temporary pots with their roots, and let them settle in their new places. I was worried that if I didn't know much and went to a skilled gardener, the plants would not grow well, but it was still good. I felt a sense of pride that I had done something completely new. I was used to putting flowers I received from a flower shop in a vase, so this unfamiliar experience was a small trigger. Recently, my regular flower shop gave a pot as a gift to a customer who ordered flowers to commemorate the expansion of the store, and I also brought Anisida with a bouquet to give to an acquaintance. I briefly left it in my space before giving it as a gift, and I liked the liveliness of the young leaves and the light yellow color. I was curious about ‘what if I take care of flowers in a pot?’ and worried that ‘I don’t think I can take good care of plants, so isn’t it useless?’, but I decided to follow the former. My workplace is in Gwanghwamun, so I sometimes take walks, and in the neatly organized flower beds, the flower buds look pretty. I often find Anisida, and since I know its name, I take another look. Since I brought a flower pot with flowers into my house because of this flower, it feels special and makes me smile. Now I can recognize Hulux and Namdojari. An Italian philosopher talked about ‘the desertification of everyday life’ as one of the characteristics of Korean society. If that’s the case, I think we should do the work of planting excitement in our daily lives, not someone else, but ourselves. I decided to go to the flower shop again next year and do some more tidying with my more familiar hands. - I hope to learn and call out the names of the flowers, grass, and trees on the street one by one, Yeirin #Yeirin's Letter #오늘의집에서글을씁니다
