It serves as both a study and a playroom for the kids. My nieces and nephews came over, so we are all playing together at the IKEA round table. It is a 6-seater, but since it is round, more people can sit there. Also, there are no sharp edges, so it is safe for the kids. I have been using this table for over a year and am completely satisfied. I recently bought chairs for my daughter, who is starting elementary school.
