I refinished the all-black glass upper cabinets with matte white adhesive film. I still need to apply more to the range hood area, but I am very satisfied just looking at it now. It looks much more open than the original black. As expected, white interiors are bright and cheerful. Raising a child has made preserving kitchen space quite important. I considered installing a safety gate, but decided it wasn't cost-effective, so I neatly solved the problem using tension rods from Daiso. They are super sturdy.
