I thought I’d introduce just the kitchen, rather than the entire house. Our first newlywed home was a jeonse (leasehold) rental, so the kitchen was practically impossible to make look nice... For our second home, we renovated everything except the veranda windows before moving in. The photo above shows the kitchen as viewed from the dining table. I like that the kitchen isn't cramped compared to the size of the apartment. Before the remodeling, the sink only extended up to the dish drying rack, but we extended the sink further toward the living room and added an island, making the kitchen space much more spacious. The overall color of the house is white, but the refrigerator is a dark gray, so we built a cabinet to keep it out of sight as much as possible. We could have removed the wall facing the window, but we installed shelves in the space behind it to store food, and we keep cleaning tools on the bottom shelf. I like that the messy parts aren't visible.
