At the neighborhood flower shop I’ve visited a few times since moving, I often see flowering trees or unique flowers that aren't just for common bouquets. I tend to buy flowers to commemorate happy days, but I find myself buying them especially when I’m exhausted from the day. When I peek in on my way home from work, the owner greets me enthusiastically. She says she likes me even more because I’m the customer who buys only the flowers that don't sell. If I carefully examine the flower's face and pick a single stem, she says, “I’ll give you another one,” making it a buy-one-get-one deal. Even without me asking, the owner tells me how she got the flower and what its meaning is, and mentions her favorite flowers, saying we have similar tastes. I find that time lovely and wonderful, but on the way back, thoughts branch out like twigs. That lady is really good at business...
