I removed the upper cabinets and installed reclaimed wood shelves as part of a DIY renovation. I designed the kitchen sink myself and only commissioned a company for the installation. My biggest concern during the construction was relocating the sink faucet. I heard that if you mess with the plumbing incorrectly, it can cause a water disaster! I paid a lot of attention to this part. Thanks to that, I was able to secure cooking space between the stovetop and the sink. Maybe it's because this is how my kitchen turned out, but I feel a strong attachment to it.
