desk environment. The monitor arm is Ergotron's MXV aluminum. Even if you don't move the monitor or put anything under it, using the arm will improve your QOL. The MXV isn't cheap, but you don't have to replace it often, it comes with a warranty, and the aluminum finish is really cool, so I recommend it.
