It turns out that the lighting in this house is dominated by hanging lamps. At first, because I was a bit too lazy to dismantle the ceiling to re-arrange the lights... in the end I chose the ninja route by replacing the "standard fittings" with hanging lights. Some have also been replaced with down lights. Deliberately made a bit low so it's easy to replace the lights.
