The house we built from 0 is indeed on very limited land, so we have our own challenges. The layout we use is an open plan concept & we chose to make the area under the stairs a storage cupboard. In the area under the stairs, apart from making a storage cupboard, we also placed a floating TV table, so this area is very functional for us.
