Instead of putting a sofa in the living room, I put an IKEA daybed on one side of the study. I usually use it as a sofa, and when guests come over, I change it into a bed and use it as a guest room. I installed a beam projector on the opposite wall, so that I can watch videos comfortably while sitting or lying down.
