When I moved into this house, one of the things I wanted the most was a clean & light, yet functional kitchen. That's why I chose a minimalist one-line kitchen design, paired with this special island table in the middle.
This island table is very multifunctional: preparing food, breakfast-lunch-dinner, to afternoon journaling while drinking tea. One side even has a built-in shelf for books, because why not?😄
To keep things looking clean, airy, and Pinterest-worthy (yes, even on a regular day), I deliberately didn't use the upper cabinets. Just a simple wooden shelf to display my mug collection (they had to be on display!) All the not-so-cute stuff? Stored neatly in the lower cabinets and storage in the island. Visual clutter stresses me out way too fast😅
I didn't expect that the place to cut onions could also be a place to write down thoughts, dreams, and ideas in the afternoon. That's what makes this kitchen feel extra special to me🩵

Usually kitchen appliances have "cold" colors like black or steel, so that the kitchen & dining area can still feel warm and cozy, I use wood accent materials and warm white colors. Because this kitchen is a high traffic area, high humidity too, of course it will be difficult and expensive to maintain if using real wood materials, so I use materials that are lower maintenance but look like wood. For example, wood texture granite for the floor and wood texture hpl for the cabinet

✨ Affordable fix with big impact: install wood-pattern HPL layer on all doors.
Originally plain black, the doors got a second life with this wood-pattern HPL layer.
I used the same type of HPL for all doors, from the main door, bedroom door, to the bathroom, so that the vibe is neat and unified.
Now, the overall appearance of the house is warmer, homey, and harmonious from end to end🚪✨

As I may have mentioned often, I love reading books and like to put books in various corners of the house, so they are easy to access anytime. But this one area is dedicated specifically for reading. Although sometimes it also changes function to a small living room, because my friends like to hang out here when they come to my house.
In addition to the cute and comfortable chairs for stretching out, the atmosphere in this area is really nice for chatting, playing cards, or just sitting and relaxing. And when I'm alone, it goes back to being a place to read.
There is one part that I like the most: a custom bench that also functions as a window frame. I asked for this bench to be made specifically: it can be sat on, there is storage underneath, and the position is perfect for reading while looking outside. Multifunctional, but also feels personal. This is one of my favorite corners in the house🩵

Sometimes what makes a space feel good isn’t how big it is, but how everything flows together.
I combined my kitchen and dining area into one open space, with a multifunctional island table in the middle. One side is for storing kitchen utensils, the other side is a dining table that is big enough for 2 people. So, the process from cooking to eating is enough in one room, just move sides😄👍🏼
Everyday life becomes more practical. Just cook, sit, and eat. Simple, efficient, and it keeps the space feeling open and easy to live in🩵

The little things that I think can build ambience in the kitchen are lighting and wood accents. When renovating the kitchen, I chose to give wood accents on the lower cabinets, some shelves, and the floor so that the kitchen feels more grounded and warm. Because I know the kitchen will be an area with lots of stuff too, this wood accent is very complimentary for a living room. In addition to ambience, I installed LED Strips on the kitchen set shelves and after that I also added task lighting that is quite statement-making, so besides being functional, it can also be used as decoration. Don't forget I added frames with various types of timber for kitchen decoration
